Job Title – Engine Simulation (MBD)
Department: Engine Design and Development
Experience (Years) – 9-12 Yrs Btech & 6-9 Yrs Mtech (2W, 4 W, Engine companies)
Job Purpose:
- He is responsible for applying the engineering principles, theories, and technical core competencies for the advancement of the installation & application for air cooled, oil cooled and water cooled product portfolios. They must demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment as significant thermal and structural technical problems are anticipated and solved. Develops standards and guidelines related to the physical science. Directly interfaces with CFT for problem solving, product improvement and cost reduction issues. Validation of engineering specification design for engine and transmission products. Delivery of supporting systems to enable casting design throughout the engine and transmission.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- 1D simulation of various engine systems to enable conceptual/definitive understanding of function and capability. This can include; valve train, rotating & reciprocating systems (crankshaft/connecting rod/piston/bearings), balancing systems, and the ability to select technology types, and to ensure reliability and durability of systems analyses.
- 3D simulation of various engine systems to enable conceptual/definitive understanding of function and capability. This can include; cylinder heads, cylinder blocks/crankcases, valvetrain, rotating & reciprocating systems (crankshaft/connecting rod/piston/bearings), balancing systems, and the ability to select technology types, and to ensure reliability and durability of systems analyses.
Desired Technical / Functional Competencies:
- Experience in 2W/4W 1D Kinematic & Dynamic + 3D simulation of Thermal & Structural analysis and development of powertrain systems and their integration into Auto OEM vehicle product portfolio.
- Experienced and capable to apply modern toolsets for delivery of simulation results. These should include GT-Suite, Altair, ANSYS, ABAQUS, ADAMS, AVL (Excite) & Ricardo (Valdkin/Valdyn) toolsets
- Detailed understanding of material science & systems engineering.
- Understanding and application of standard Design processes inclusive of; Product Specification, Design Review, DFMEA, DVP & Product Closure/Approval processes.
- Should have very good understanding about the complete engine & transmission system architecture.
- Expert in function development in the field of system engineering on automotive domain.
- Knowledge of Selection of the material based on the application.
- Knowledge on functional safety (ISO26262) is preferred.
- Openness to new approaches and high flexibility in engineering delivery.
- Design validation based on the manufacturing process and material
- Dynamic and proactive work approach
- Familiar and experienced in using project management tools
- Understanding time and cost implications and its control
- Experienced in interaction with suppliers and internal/external customers
